I am a mature, well educated individual and am secure in my profession and relationships. However, I had a real fear of the dark and never understood this about myself. I don’t mean a discomfort about the lights turned off that would have been liveable. But I had a real deep, panic-driven — almost to the point of hysteria — fear about being in the dark by myself. In a recent Dianetics session, I uncovered an incident when I was 3 where I was hiding in a closet and got locked in! I hadn’t even consciously been “thinking” about it all these years but there it was. It was a tremendous relief to go over it and over it and just like it says I hit a point I could remember all details and laugh about it! What a relief to not have this horrific fear anymore at all and I thank L Ron Hubbard for the piece of freedom that one incident gave me back.
